The New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) has recently installed Street Signages in New Town Action Area I so that people can easily find out streets & addresses easily. You can see in the pictures that a board indicating the street details with light at night which is very easy for commuters to find out where are they and where are they going.
As New Town Kolkata is quite new and specially in the night time it was very difficult for new people to know where are they going. They mostly had to depend up on the tea stall or other shop owners for directions.
As per KNDA Officials, they found the initial experiment done in Action Area I as successful and right now planning to do similar Street Signages implementation in Action Area II and III also. This kind of boards will not only have the direction of the roads or address of certain area, rather it will also mention the popular housing complexes as they are also the landmark for many areas in New Town Kolkata.
